One of the things you discover when you begin working in SEO is that when you search on it to find out more, you come up with loads of links with regard to affiliate marketing. I had no notion what that was when I started the training course to build up my abilities and I just ignored them as it did not seem to have much relevance.
What has become evident now that I am more experienced is that the two activities go together very easily. affiliate marketing has to do with making a website and forging partnerships with trading outlets and carrying in your pages links and adverts to those partner sites to send traffic to them, and the partner companies are ready to pay a commission of any business done to the affiliate for encouraging the traffic. Why are they willing do this?
Well, put simply, if a firm offers to sell its wares on its website it has two options. It can rely wholly on its own efforts as far as online SEO and pay per click advertising and attempt to get all its commercial visitors to the website. Or, by offering a financial incentive, it can agree for affiliates to carry links and banners and have traffic sent from greater numbers of sources and so take advantage from the added promotion, SEO and links which will be picked up by the search engines.
The United States is where the idea was initiated and they are, of course, a long way in front in terms of affiliate marketing being accepted as a standard business procedure and the willingness of vendors to pay cuts to, in reality anyone who puts a link on their website. However, it is fast becoming normal in UK trade and affiliate program providers are starting up and offering the service to be the conduit, marrying advertisers to affiliates and providing technical advice in things like link production, monitoring, collecting and sending the commission payments to affiliates.
Now, none of this is going to make any difference to the advertiser unless the affiliate marketing web pages with their link is found and so it is critical that anyone thinking of having a crack at it at affiliate marketing knows something about effective SEO as well because otherwise you are going to can spend much in the way of time and a bit of money on procuring your site, setting it up, choosing your partners and inserting the adverts and links. And yet it’s pointless unless you can put your page on the search engines in a place where possible visitors can find it and go to it.
